THIS YEAR: Fourth-year Cougar John Ellis hopes to complete his college career with an NAIA championship meet berth in either the long or triple jump ... Is a good athlete who has displayed his skills in the sprints and hurdles.

2010 (junior): Endured a sub-par 2010 junior season in which he struggled to meet marks from the previous season ... At the GSAC Championships in Santa Barbara, finished eighth in both the long (20' 7 3/4") and triple (42' 9") jumps to tally 2 points for Azusa Pacific ... Posted season-bests of 9.19 (60m hurdles), 11.77 (100 meters) 21' 8" (long jump) and 42' 11" (triple jump).

2009 (sophomore): Was the Cougars' No. 3 long and triple jumper during his 2009 sophomore season ... Registered personal bests in both events, going 22' 8" (Occidental Invitational) in the long and 44' 8" (Bryan Clay Invitational) in the triple ... At the GSAC Championship Meet in San Diego finished fifth in the long jump (22' 5") before an injury kept him from competing in the triple jump ... Clocked a 15.99 in the 110 high hurdles in a return to an event he hadn't run since his senior year in high school.

2008 (freshman): As a 2008 freshman appeared in 9 meets, including the GSAC Championship Meet in Azusa where he finished third in the long jump (22' 0 1/4") and fourth in the triple jump (43' 1 3/4") ... Posted a season-best leaps of 44' 4 3/4" in the triple jump at the Occidental Invitational and 22' 2 1/4 in the long jump at Concordia.

HIGH SCHOOL: Competed 4 seasons in track & field at David Douglas High in Portland, Ore. ... Was a 2-year all-district honoree in both the long and triple jump, winning the district long jump title as a 2007 senior with a career-best leap of 21' 8" ... Finished 11th in the long jump at the state 6A meet ... Also ran a leg on the Scots' 4x100 relay that finished eighth in the state ... Other lifetime bests are 44' 0 1/2" in the triple jump, 15.59 in the 110 hurdles and 43.64 in the 300 hurdles.
